Carbon – the basis of life.

Carbon (carbon dioxide) is the most important nutrient for aquarium plants. Around 40 % of the plant dry matter consists of it, which, however, is in short supply in the aquarium. The result: poor plant growth. And when plants grow poorly, the unloved algae get their chance. Carbo Care Pro quickly and effectively supplies all aquarium plants with readily available carbon. All plants, from mosses to echinodors and cryptocorynes to fast-growing stem plants, become fuller and stronger. The leaves become significantly larger and more colorful. The success is already visible after a few weeks – pay attention to the shoot tips and young leaves. The lush, healthy growth increases the plants' ability to compete with algae. Unwanted algae will be pushed back as a result. The entire aquarium appears healthier, greener and more beautiful.

How Carbo Care Pro works

The basis of plant metabolism is photosynthesis. In this biochemical process, solar energy is "captured" and stored in energy-rich carbon compounds. One such energy-rich compound is sugar. These compounds are used by the plant (a) as a universal source of energy or (b) to produce other compounds. To stay with the sugar example: The plant can "re-burn" the sugar in its cells and use the released energy to drive other metabolic processes. Or it can process the sugar into cellulose, for example. Cellulose, also known as wood pulp, is the substance that gives trees their strength and consists of nothing other than long sugar chains. How can the plant convert substances into each other? The central hub in plant metabolism is the so-called citric acid cycle. The citric acid cycle is like a factory. Here, a wide variety of substances are introduced in order to produce the required substances. With the help of this metabolic pathway, the plant can produce all vital carbon compounds itself: Carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, secondary plant substances, etc. And this is where Carbo Care Pro comes into play. The product contains selected active ingredients that are also found in plant metabolism in this or a similar form. The active ingredients are absorbed by the plant and used in the cells as building material for the construction of higher compounds or as a source of energy. This additional supply enables the plant to grow faster and stronger. In addition, there is another positive effect: all organic active substances based on carbon are bacterially degradable, because the numerous filter bacteria in the aquarium feed on them. In the end, only carbon dioxide (CO2) and water remain. Carbo Care Pro therefore supplies the plants with vital carbon via 2 paths. The effect is already visible after a few weeks of regular use: the plants grow faster, lusher and healthier, algae are pushed back.

Application & Dosage

Depending on planting and growing conditions: Daily 2 – 4 ml per 100 L aquarium water.

Information on the ingredient Glutaraldehyde

Carbo Care Pro is harmless to all fish, plants, shrimps, snails, filter bacteria and other aquarium inhabitants when properly dosed and applied, even in continuous use. The product had to pass a long-term practical test in different aquariums and under different conditions. User safety enjoys a very high priority at Dennerle. The old rule also applies to the active ingredient glutaraldehyde: the dose makes the poison. Glutaraldehyde in concentrated form is a hazardous substance. At a dosage of 3 ml per 100 L of aquarium water, the active substance is diluted by a factor of 33,000. This application concentration is sufficient to significantly promote plant growth, but is so low that aquarium inhabitants cannot be negatively affected. In addition, glutaraldehyde is readily biodegradable at the application concentration used here. What the plants do not absorb is "eaten" by the filter bacteria - all that remains is CO2, which in turn benefits the plants, and water. Even with continuous use, there is no accumulation of glutaraldehyde in the aquarium. A safety buffer is built into the dosage. Even an accidental double dosage will not lead to negative effects. Basically, however, one should follow the recommended and practice-proven dosage and not overdose Carbo Care Pro.

The Dennerle Level System

With the level system you can find the right fertilizer quickly and easily.

Level 1 = For planted aquariums of type 1 with simple and few plants.
Level 2 = For heavily planted aquariums:

  • of type 2 with many and demanding plants
  • Type 3 from a size of 100 L with demanding plants

Add-Ons = optional care products to improve growth and health suitable for all aquarium types

Plant care for all aquaria

Every planted aquaria has its own needs, but they all benefit from additional care producs like liquid carbon or our plant enzymes. Herewith growth and health can be improved even further.
