Algae Control

The systematic approach to preventing and combating algae

Algae are a natural component in every body of water, including garden ponds.

As one of the  most important links in the food chain, they form the basis of life for many organisms which inhabit garden ponds. Algae become a nuisance when they multiply too rapidly in an uncontrolled manner, however: As suspended algae they colour the water green, as thread algae they form dense beds. Blooming algae is usually caused by an oversupply of nutrients in conjunction with intense sunlight. An oversupply of nutrients arises as a result of too much food and too many fish, or in case of inadequate nutrient consumption (insufficient water changing, too few pond plants).

The right care prevents algae from becoming a problem in garden ponds. Dennerle offers effective products to prevent algae - and should the worst come to the worst, Dennerle also offers fast-acting solutions to eradicate algae infestations.
